AR-HES-B – Energy storage, production and recovery of valuable substances in wastewater treatment plants

AR-HES-B develops technologically based concepts of municipal wastewater treatment plants in order to convert them from energy consumers into a hybrid energy provider, energy storage and a provider of resources. The concept enables wastewater plants to turn into an important platform in the regional energy and mass transfer.

AREAS - Aerial search & Rescue support and supErvision of inAccessible terrainS

Through the combined use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), sensors in the visible, infrared and multispectral ranges as well as laser scanners, an effective and efficient acquisition of information in inacessible terrains is achieved in real time. This reduces the risk for responder organisations and the resources required to gather information in the event of crises, disasters and damage situations.

ARIS - Application of non-linear control engineering and implementation of intelligent sensor systems for the improvements of energy efficiency in the building sector

The major goal of the project was the development of innovative control concepts for controlling and optimizing heating, cooling and ventilation systems (HVAC) as well as building loads. The implementation of advanced, energy efficient non-linear control techniques in building management systems is supported by new sensor technologies that are applied to building and energy systems in order to improve their energy-efficient operation.

ASOC - Establishment of an Academic Security Operations Center

The project deals with the conceptual design of a federated Academic Security Operation Center (ASOC). The ASOC is intended to ensure a rapid and, if possible, automated exchange of security information, IOCs, rules, SOAR workflows, use cases, playbooks, and knowledge in an academic context. Thus, the project includes the development of a maturity level determination of the individual participants, a secure data protection-compliant exchange of information, methods for AI-supported threat hunting as well as further education and training on an open-source basis and the corresponding preservation of digital sovereignty and the clarification of the legal and social issues of an ASOC.
