VITALITY - Energy optimised design rules and integral planning approach for building-integrated photovoltaics in urban areas
The VITALITY project aims to provide supporting tools, design rules and robust information in the early decision and design phase of building projects. By providing the right information at the right time, building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) is part of the discussion in the concept phase and the implementation is strongly prepared and supported.
VITALITY District - Optimized energy concepts in the early planning phase of resilient, energy-efficient neighbourhoods
The aim of the VITALITY District project is to coordinate the total (electrical and thermal) load and generation profile in the design phase of urban areas and neighbourhoods in order to optimize the energy concept of energy-efficient districts. Hence smart city indicators in detailed level (buildings, individual technologies, public spaces) as well as models, principles and catalogs of criteria for energy-optimized urban neighbourhoods were created. The results were presented in compact form on the district level in order to serve as input for future urban planning projects.
VR-Responder: Virtual Reality based First Responder Training Using Human Factors Analysis and Behavior Modelling for Flexible Real-time Decision Support
VR-Responder investigates the basic principles for the evaluation of the efficiency of applying mixed reality information technologies in critical situations of fire brigades, rescue teams and police task force for training and real world missions. Critical psychophysiological parameters are scientifically identified and applied for the development of an integrated system for human factors analytics providing the service of real-time stress estimation and decision support under application of Artificial Intelligence methodology and concrete sensor data.
VR4UrbanDev - Virtual Reality as an innovative, digital tool for the integrative urban development of the future
Virtual reality (VR) has the potential to make complex issues more quickly comprehensible and directly tangible. In the VR4UrbanDev project, we are using this potential for energy planning processes for buildings and urban districts. On the basis of test areas, we develop methods for importing and visualising energy-related real-time data and simulation data in the VR environment.
VSAT - VSAT Monitoring System
The physical RF link of VSAT stations, especially the quality of the MF-TDMA return link, is crucial for ensuring high quality satellite communication. An accurate aligned antenna minimizes interference and secures the best physical way of maximizing the Bit/Hz/Year ratio. The SIECAMS VSAT monitoring system allows terminal per terminal measurement of RF quality parameters dedicated to MF-TDMA traffic transmitted from VSAT satellite networks without service interruption.
Valuation models for future energy clusters considering market, technology and policy uncertainty - Case Study Biomass
Market liberalization, technological change and increasing complexity of international policy processes (e .g. climate negotiations) necessitate new approaches to evaluating investments in an uncertainty and risk-augmented framework. This project developed valuation methods from financial theory - such as real options valuation and portfolio optimization - to quantify the relative competitiveness of bioenergy chains and total energy systems.
Ventilation and heating in passive houses: Comparison of variants in terms of thermal comfort and sustainability
This projects aims at systematic resarch on thermal comfort and the sustainability of heating passive houses with and without air heating. The results of the comprehensive investigation of different variants will provide valuable information for building developers, planners and for funding decisions.
VertSLD - Prospecting for the Construction of a Vertical Icing Wind Tunnel for Experimental Simulation of Icing by Supercooled Large Droplets
The exploratory project VertSLD investigates both the physical feasibility and economic viability of an icing wind tunnel concept which avoids many of the difficulties that arise in existing icing wind tunnels when the size of the water droplets exceeds a few hundred microns. in this new concept the "flight path" of the drops within which they are supercooled is arranged vertically and not horizontally.
Vertical Farm Aspern - Democratization of vertical farming under consideration of parameters of circular economy
Planning, construction and optimization of a vertical farm for urban food production, involving the users in the operational management. The building and the operator concept represent the entire food value chain, from planting to selling.
Victimization
This project aimed at generating reliable data concerning the criminal acts of damage to property, robbery, theft, burglary, harassment and violence by interrogating a representative sample of the Austrian population (n=10,000) on their victimization experiences
Vilipa - Visible light based Person and Group Detection in existing buildings
Villab – Exploration of a Villach innovation laboratory for the cooperative development of sustainable neighbourhoods
The "Villab - Probe" project serves to check the feasibility of an urban innovation laboratory to accelerate the transformation of Villach districts towards climate neutrality. Assuming positive feasibility, the cooperation with relevant stakeholders will be deepened and a business plan drawn up for a future innovation laboratory.
Villach KlimaFit - Municipal Transformation Process to Achieve Climate Neutrality in Villach
The strategic framework for achieving climate neutrality has been decided in Villach and the city itself can already point to good results in its own sphere of action (buildings, photovoltaics). However, the lack of own energy and mobility operations, the type and scope of construction/investment projects (third-party projects) and the limited scope for action in strategic development topics (little land owned by the city of Villach) require the adaptation (transformation) of municipal instruments in order to implement climate neutrality holistically.
Virtual Biogas - Biogas-Upgrading and Grid-Injection
Production of natural gas substitute from biogas and grid-injection to the public natural gas grid on an industrial scale using the two-staged membrane separation process gaspermeation. Design and erection of the upgrading plant at the biogas plant Bruck/Leitha as well as monitoring and optimisation of the operational characteristics.
Virtual Green Power Plant
Preparation and initiation of the implementation of a Virtual Green Power Plant based on renewable energy sources at the Program Responsible Party of oekostrom AG - The conception of a power utility within the Austrian power market.
Virtual Reality Training for CBRN-defense
This projects aims at investigating how Virtual Reality (VR) technologies can be utilized to enhance the quality of training, reduce costs and increase efficiency and effectiveness of CBRN defense training
Virtual power plants and DSM
For the cost efficient and lasting energy supply from ecological sources, wind, photovoltaic and biomass have to be integrated in existing grids. New methods for DSM and virtual power stations are investigated, to improve the control behaviour.
Virtual power plants for self-sustaining regions
