Flagship project INNERGY (Tyrol): Inntalfurche - Implementation examples of the flexibilisation of energy systems
The district heating system in the context of a supply with volatile renewable energies is to be made fit for the future by increasing efficiency and flexibility and integrating prosumers.
Flagship project RenewableWald4tel - 100% renewables through regional sector coupling of electricity, local and district heating and mobility
Flagship project of the regional living lab 100% Renewable Energies Waldviertel researching the utilization of flexibilities in and between different energy sources and grids, systems and applications to enable area-wide supply with 100% volatile renewable energy sources.
Flagship project cells4.energy (Burgenland): Regional energy cells as multi-energy living labs for a rapid system transition
Cells4.energy develops regional model solutions for energy systems designed for wide-scale use across Austria (and Europe), offering high transferability and scalability. At its core is a digital infrastructure that connects different sectors and systems, actively involving users in the process to maximize the share of renewable energy.
FlexDetect
Reliable intruder detection within a safety zone is essential for the protection of critical infrastructures and provides ways to optimize the crisis management process
FlexHP - AI-supported control models for optimising the flexibility of heat pumps to reduce the load on the electricity grid
Development of a new type of energy management system for heat pumps that enables methods for intelligent heat pump operation and thus maximises flexibility. This requires forecast-based models for control that utilise technologies such as machine learning.
Flexible package for the plastic solar cell
Development of a flexible package for the plastic solar cell.
Flucco+ - Flexible user comfort in quarter-hourly CO2-neutral Positive Energy Districts (PED)
The aim of the project is to improve the planning basis for the construction and operation of energy flexible buildings in three specific areas. First the further development of existing models of thermal comfort for dynamic situations, second the quantification of future energy grid usefulness and third the holistic testing of the developed comfort and CO2 model at three potential positive energy districts (PED), taking into account the ecological assessment as well as the life cycle costs.
FluccoSan - Circular energy flexibility for resilient, climate-neutral refurbishments
FluccoSan aims to develop innovative and cost-effective refurbishment solutions for the building sector that contribute to achieving the Austrian federal government's climate targets. The focus is on energy-efficient, minimally invasive and socially acceptable measures, so-called “dynamic renovations”. By integrating the circular economy and social science research, these solutions should ensure long-term sustainability and a high level of acceptance among users. Status: ongoing
Fokus Religion und Rechtsstaat
FORREST evaluates the extent to which the rule of law is accepted in Austrian society and to what extent national origin and religious orientation are reflected in different views of the primacy of the rule of law.
FoodNetLab - Exploratory Pilot: Food Value Network Innovation Lab
The results of the project provide industry representatives with a picture of current opinions on various aspects of the emerging digital transformation in the food sector, thus also supporting them in developing their specific business strategies. The findings also provided a basis for establishing an innovation lab at the Wels Campus of FH Upper Austria, which opened in 2021.
ForStrat-Cockpit
The project “ForStrat-Cockpit” aims at developing a web-based software-tool which will allow processing different topics simultaneously and independently (in order to create a common situational picture), by the use of specific methods and functions.
Foresight-Cockpit
The goal of this research is to provide a conceptual as well as a software solution to support strategic, collaborative and cross-departmental decision-making processes.
Formation of an Austrian EPD-Platform for building products
The objective of the project at hand was to create the general program guidelines for the "Austrian EPD-platform for building products": basic guidelines, general guidelines for LCA, general guideline for determination of emissions to indoor air and environment during operation phase.
Formulation developement fo a repellant against "game bite" to be used for forestry and vineyards
A repellent against deers containing sheep fat in different formulations for usage in forestry and vineyards should be developed with special attention to get a stabilized formulation with high quality. Efficacy and stability will be tested.
From courtyards to lightyards
The feasibility of daylight-optimized solutions for retrofitting courtyards by an intelligent alignment of different materials has been examined. With it, daylighting levels in lower floors can realistically be increased tenfold. Additionally, a calculation tool for generating and evaluating optimal courtyard solutions was designed. Besides daylighting parameters also economic criteria were considered.
Fundamentals on the development of ecological high class insulation composites made from natural plant fibres
Fundamentals on an insulation made from flax and hemp fibres which can be directly pargeted on the outer wall of a building had been developed. Only ecological glues and additives were used. Variations of the production and the additives optimized the technical properties. In addition flame proofing and thermal transfer were tested. After the laboratory tests a prototype finished the project.
Further Investigations and Monitoring of the Green Walls at GRG7 Kandlgasse
Following on from the completed research project "GrünPlusSchule", in which various greening measures were implemented at and in a school in Vienna's 7th district (GRG7), this follow-up project takes up further unanswered questions and is dedicated to detailed measurement data evaluations of the effects of indoor and outdoor greening.
Further enhancement of biogas production in Vorarlberg and its use over the natural gas grid
Further enhancement of biogas production in Vorarlberg with the possible use over the natural gas grid; analysis of the potential availability of fermentation substrates; scenarios for the increase of production capacities in combination with existing plants; technical blueprint of realistic scenarios; economic feasibility of the described scenarios.
