GreenGEO - Data-based integration of climate change adaptation measures into spatial planning

Green and blue infrastructure (GBI) is a key instrument in the fight against climate change. Nevertheless, deciding where and in what form it should be used most effectively remains a challenge in spatial planning practice. The development of a digital model that links location-specific climate risk data with suitable GBI measure proposals will make this much easier and more objective.

GreenPlusSchool@urban - Highly efficient facade and roof greening in combination with PV; optimal solution for energy efficiency in overall environmental consideration

In this project, different building-greening systems and plant/substrate types, combined with various PV modules, had been examined on a Viennese school. The influence on the hygrothermal behaviour of the building, energy-saving potential, humidity, shading, noise reduction, water retention and heat island effect are being scientifically explained. The students of the school will also be involved.

GreenTech-Renovation - Energetic Renovation of Glass Buildings of Architectural Value

The focus of the GreenTech-Renovation project was to find innovative solutions for the energetic renovation of architecturally valuable buildings with a high proportion of glass. A future-oriented building physics concept that includes the use of alternative forms of energy had been developed for this purpose. With ecological and social commitment, an intelligent usage concept could strengthen the energetic renovation concepts and guarantee their sustainability. The 10-Rs of the circular economy (Refuse, Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Refurbish, Remanufacture, Repurpose, Recycle, Recover) will serve as a guideline.

Local provision of convenience goods in rural areas is a challenge, especially for elderly and less mobile people. The collaboratively developed ICT platform GreisslerPLUS offers solutions.

GrünStattGrau – Innovations for Greening Cities "The green living laboratory"

GrünStadtGrau represents the holistic of competence for green building technologies such as green roofs and living walls in Austria. It generates impulses for urban green infrastructure on buildings and links innovative products and projects, supports through know-how and analysis for implementation processes. GrünStattGrau guides urban and participatory strategies from development to implementation.

Gründerzeit with future - demonstration project 2: ROOFJET Wißgrillgasse - sustainable solution for improving the thermal-energetic performance of a typical historical building in Vienna

The main aim of the project ROOFJET Wißgrillgasse is a building refurbishment by a factor of 8 which demonstrates that even historical buildings can be refurbished to lowest energy standard.This demonstration project shows a holistic and sustainable refurbishment concept for a special type of buildings with innovative technical and organizational solutions.

A demonstration of how innovative measures, with highly efficient and contemporary standards and taking into consideration comfort and energy consumption, can be applied to a heritage listed building.

Documentation of available knowledge on the renovation of historical buildings ("Gründerzeitgebäude") as an input for the preparation of 5 demonstration projects as well as the development of an accompanying monitoring system within the scope of the project "Gründerzeit with future".

Currently there are no energetical and aesthetical windows in high quality. Two types of windows were developed that have high standards regarding design and energetical and constructional performance.

Gründerzeit with future - subproject 4: Development of a real estate portfolio management tool for real estate trustees and owners

Development of a portfolio management tool for the administration of real estate technical data and to support the decision-finding process related to renovation of "Gründerzeit" buildings. The management tool will be applied in practice, in the demonstration projects implemented within the flagship project "Innovative Modernisation of Wilhelminian style "Gründerzeit" Buildings". The results will be available in the form of check-lists and guidelines applicable in the decision-finding process related to renovation measures.

Gründerzeit with future - subproject 5: Documentation and monitoring

The main aim is the documentation and monitoring of the demonstration projects within the scope of the project "Historical buildings of tomorrow" with regard to the technical implementation, investment and operation costs and to the energetic performance. All demonstration projects will be accompanied by an evaluation process regarding occupants' satisfaction and the refurbishment process. Beyond that, legal constraints for innovative refurbishment of historical buildings will be documented and proposals for adaptations of the rental law and refurbishment subsidy schemes will be developed.

Dissemination aimed at defining the relevant target groups and broadly distributing the innovative solutions of the flagship project GdZ to the defined target groups. It is of crucial importance to effect a wide awareness level and to make a deep impact on the relevant target groups.
