TFlex - Temperature-flexibilisation in low-load operation of local district heating systems

Within the research project TFlex it was checked if the losses adherent to small district heating networks during low-load periods can be reduced. One possible solution is by deactivating the network and supplying the customers from previously charged decentralized storages. The optimal clustering of the storages and the possibility of solar-charging the storage were calculated with the aim of a guaranteed one-hundred percent heat supply.

THERM-opti-BALCONY-P2 - Thermal Optimized Renovation of Balconies Phase 2: In-Situ-Pilot-Station

Pre-cast cantilever balconies represent a particular problem in the case of thermal rehabilitation of buildings. With the THERM-opti-BALKON-System a solution is currently being investigated under laboratory conditions. Phase 2 aims to create an in-situ-pilot-station. The most important object of study is the long-term behavior of the THERM-opti-BALKON-System.

THERM-opti-BALCONY: Thermal Optimized Renovation of Balconies

Pre-cast cantilever balconies represent a particular problem in the thermal renovation of buildings. The central goal of this project is the development of practical and cost-effective mounting solutions for the thermally decoupled reconstruction of balconies on building frontages and achieving a significant increase in the energy performance of the thermal renovation measure.

TM/TC Modem - Telemetry and Telecommand Modem and Interface Processing Equipment for EGSE and Ground Stations

This ASAP 8 project is designed to enhance the flexibility and functionality of our TT&C SCOE and Payload EGSE (Electrical Ground Support Equipment) solutions, but also to extend our business to the ground station area by elaborating the detailed requirements, system and detail design for a modem, both for EGSE and ground station systems. The concepts and design will be validated by practical investigations and evaluations.

TMIS - Topographic Mars Information System

One of the instruments on board of the European Mars Express Spacecraft is the HRSC (High Resolution Stereo Camera). The project group developed the topographic information system TMIS - arelational spatial data catalogue - for managing, archiving and distributing the captured images.

TMIS.ascrea - Automatic Selection, Categorization and Recognition of Areomorphic Features

The project focused on an automated areomorphic (i.e. Mars-related morphological) analysis based on DTM data. Automation has become inevitable due to the large amount of available data.

TMIS.morph - Areomorphological Analysis of Data from HRSC on Mars Express

TMIS.morph, a project in the sequence of TMIS (Topographic Mars Information System) projects, was the Austrian contribution to the international collaboration of “HRSC (High Resolution Stereo Camera) on MEX”, lead by Professor Gerhard Neukum (FU Berlin). The TMIS projects, beside providing a solid data management background of the huge datasets of the HRSC imagery and the derivative digital terrain models (DTMs) for the scientific research team, aimed at unconventional visualization, evaluation and automated extraction of selected Martian topographic features.

TMIS.plus.II - Maintenance and Extension of the Topographic Mars Information System (TMIS) and Processing and Analysis of Terrain Information from Mars Derived from HRSC Imagery

TMIS has recently been re-implemented and contains data covering some three quarters of the planet's surface. Besides maintaining the data catalogue, I.P.F. also uses the Mars DTM data for research activities in DTM analysis. In the course of the current project the focus is on areomorphologic analysis, in particular on generating highly informative visualisations.

TOPS – Topology-optimised reinforced concrete slabs with digital formwork and reinforcement

The TOPS project is investigating material-efficient ribbed concrete slabs, which save up to 50% of the concrete used in conventional flat slabs by topology-optimisation. A 'file-to-factory' process enables the automated production of formwork and reinforcement using digital technologies. The construction method reduces CO₂ emissions and contributes to the decarbonisation of the construction industry.

TWID - Heating-Paint Sensor Based Wing Ice Detector

In the scope of the TWID project, a method for reliable detection of ice on wing surfaces and other relevant structures on an aircraft is to be developed, examined and validated in the course of various tests on the small-scale and full-scale models in the icing wind tunnel. Ice detection combined with the de-icing method, which is already in development, results in a completely self-sufficient de-icing system, which independently identifies and reliably removes ice on the wings.

TWIN - Digital twins for sustainable buildings

Digital building twins have hardly been used in practice due to an often unfavourable cost-benefit ratio. The aim of the TWIN project is to bring together use cases of digital building twins with a high ecological and economic impact in order to prepare application scenarios with great implementation potential.
