SANOWA - Satellite Basend Emergency Call System for Lumberjacks
The objective of the project SANOWA (Satellite based emergency call system for lumberjacks) is the development of a demonstrator that will increase the safety of lumberjacks and facilitate rescue operations in case of an accident. Satellite navigation, autonomous sensors, wireless communication, and geoinformation systems are integrated in the demonstrator.
SAR-X Environ - Environmental Mapping Applications Using TerraSAR-X
The goals of this project were the improvement of existing X-band scattering models and the development of environmental mapping applications for TerraSAR X data in Austria and in potential export markets.
SARISTU - Smart Intelligent Aircraft Structures
The concept of Smart Intelligent Aircraft Structures offers significant improvements in aircraft total weight, manufacturing cost and, above all, operational cost by an integration of system tasks into the load carrying structure. The project focuses on integration activities in the three distinct technological areas airfoil morphing, self-sensing and multifunctional structures through self-healing and the use of nanoreinforced resins.
SATFARM-Services
New indicators to remotely track climate-smart agricultural practices: Farm services for farmers and policy makers
SATIN
Satellite-based short range weather prediction with special emphasize on high impact events
SATSKI - Sensor-based GPS as a tool to analyse the performance of professional ski racers
The objective is an analysis tool that provides the Austrian Ski Federation with the possibility to increase the performance of its racers, but also to study the physical robustness of the human body, and take counteractive measures if necessary.
SCI_BIM - Scanning and data capturing for Integrated Resources and Energy Assessment using Building Information Modelling
The aim of the project is to increase the resources- and energy efficiency through coupling of various digital technologies and methods for data capturing (geometry and materials composition) and modelling (as-built BIM), as well as through gamification.
SC_micro-quarters – Planning and modernisation of smart city quarters with a view to energy optimisation and a high quality of life
The SC_micro-quarters project demonstrates possibilities for urban planning and urban quarter development with a view to creating a path to a low carbon city with a high quality of life and good resilience, while taking into account existing and proposed buildings, infrastructures and uses. The central element is the modelling of urban structures at micro-quarter level.
SERMER - Sensors for the Remote Monitoring of Experimental Reactors
The R&D activities within SERMER deal with the hardware of the viscosity sensor prototype, the readout, and the interpretation of the sensor signals with respect to the ongoing processes within the experiment to be monitored.
SGIS - Spaceborne GNSS-Receiver Interference Suppression
The SGIS project started with the analysis of future on-board and terrestrial interference scenarios, the analysis and identification of interference suppression techniques suitable for implementation with space technology, and the isolation of candidate solutions.
SIECAMS BOX - Carrier Monitoring System for Small Operators
The aim of the project is the integration of general-purpose PCI sample cards in SIECAMS for supporting standard spectrum monitoring and demodulation measurement tasks on a highly competitive level in terms of performance and price as well as a reduction of the required equipment space. Furthermore, it is the aim to provide a generic interface to import digitized data of different resolution and sampling rates in order to support standard digitization equipment from different manufacturers. The current SIECAMS Client Server architecture will be enhanced by an additional Web-Server hosting the web-application.
SIMULTAN - Simultaneous planning environment for buildings in resilient, highly energy efficient and resource-efficient districts
This project enabled the opportunity for an essential energy efficiency increase within overlapping buildings, to achieve the objective of resilient cities and districts with respect to a high quality of life, resource sustainability and energy efficiency. The goal was a workable tool based on a multidisciplinary planning approach, to support the decision finding process in order to design both refurbishment projects and new developments within a highly efficient city.
SINUS: Sensor Integration for Urban Risk Prediction
The SINUS project explored the integration of mobile sensor technologies and urban data to predict traffic risks for cyclists and pedestrians. A model developed using data from Salzburg provides risk assessments and is complemented by a Smart-City dashboard and a smartphone app. Evaluation showed that acoustic warnings offer the best visibility and enhance users' situational awareness.
SKIN - Concept for a product service system in the area of surface treatment
Development of a concept for a product service system (PSS) in the area of surface treatment (varnish, laquer, paint). Instead of selling varnish and pain, the service of surface treatment (per square meter) should be developed for private and commercial users.
SKISPRUNG - Precise Trajectory and Velocity Determination in Ski Jumping
The most important indicators for the flight performance of a ski jumper are the flight trajectory itself and the corresponding velocity. Due to the fact that an accurate position and velocity information along the flight trajectory is available for coaches and athletes shortly after the jump, new and important analysis methods of the jump performance are made possible. Therefore, the main objective of the project SKISPRUNG is the precise determination of these two indicators - the position and the velocity along the flight trajectory at each epoch.
SM Data Cubes
Data storage, access and transfer methods of multidimensional data cubes based on ASCAT soil moisture data
SMART-1 EPDP - Co-Investigator on Electric Propulsion Diagnostic Package (EPDP) for European SMART-1 Satellite
SMARTIES - SMART Innovative Energy Services - Analysis of requirements of smart energy-services
The emerging development of smart grids provides market opportunities for new ICT-based services ("smart value-added services"). Economic and organizational barriers are foreseeable that could affect the establishment of business models and service providers (data formats, connectivity, controllability, etc.). In order to improve the chances especially for new and local actors, SMARTIES proactively tries to eliminate hindrances of innovation.
