DIBMETSAT - Digital Image Processing Supported Meteorology Services for Air Traffic Management

Air traffic controllers face the challenge of dealing with a flood of information. An essential source of information here are images and measurements of current weather conditions. Providing automated, higher-level messages from weather radar and satellite images, combining them and generating new measurements for an improved visibility estimation should provide substantial support.

DIBMETSAT-3D - 3D Based Digital Image Processing for Met-Services for Air Traffic Management

Digital image processing analyses, supplements and extracts information from meteorology and subsequently supports its task with regard to Air Traffic Management (ATM). It is based on the findings of the 2D image analysis in meteorology as these are extended to 3D image processing algorithms. Additionally, this requires that not only the 2D-maximum projected weather radar image series are used as the starting point, but also that the volumetric data in combination with digital terrain models are used as a data source.

DIM4Energy - Digital Information Models for the Planning and Optimization of Buildings and Urban Energy Infrastructure

Digital information models (DIM) are playing an increasingly important role in urban planning and decision-making processes, from individual buildings (BIM) to urban information models (UIM). For the planning and optimal operation of plus-energy neighborhoods, valuable information could be obtained from these existing models, provided the appropriate data sources and associated software tools are properly linked.

DW² - Thermal improvements on diaphragm walls

New materials and installation methods for diaphragm walls will be investigated in laboratory and field tests in order to improve the thermal properties of the construction elements. Additional numerical and ecological aspects are considered to ensure an energetic enhancement of underground constructions such as underground garages or thermal energy storages.

Fabrik der Zukunft

De-lacquering as a service

Development of the service of de-lacquering in industrial plants on the basis of pulsed high pressure water with a new, energy efficient high pressure pump. Further possible applications will be searched for and evaluated.

DeGe - Deployable Getaway for the International Space Station (ISS) - Deployable Crew-Quarter-Cabin and Sleep-/Work-Equipment for Temporary Use on ISS and for Future Applications in 0-Gravity Environments

The Deployable Getaway (DeGe) is a deployable crew quarter, which can be unfolded into an astronaut’s crew cabin using a "folding box principle". In folded configuration two of them can be stored in one International Standard Payload Rack on ISS. The size of the unfolded cabin corresponds to those of the crew-quarter cabins actually in use. In contrast to the integrated existing cabins the DeGe can be positioned at any suitable location on ISS.

DeLight Monitoring - Demo light Impact-Monitoring and metrological investigation of energy-efficient buildings

The Project consists of the metrological examination of eleven innovative buildings in terms of energy consumption and user comfort. In addition, building constructors and operators as well as the public are sensitized to the subject of energy-related optimization of building operation. Also, the potentials of energy-related optimization of building operation are shown.

Demonstration building of the eco²building system: First passive house prefabricated wood building system for commercial and industrial buildings

The EU funded "eco2building" construction system in a timber-frame based modular design represents a systematic approach for energy efficient commercial and industrial buildings. The object of the eco²building demonstration project - the logistics centre in passive-house quality for "Eine Welt Handel AG" - in Niklasdorf was to optimize the planning and construction processes and prepare for the market launch of the eco²building construction system. Accompanying research monitored and disseminated the experience.
