MIXVAL - Mixer Simulation and Validation

In passenger aircraft, the mixing and distribution of humid airflow from the cabin and engines into the cockpit and passenger cabin, as well as electronic components, takes place at a central location of the air conditioning system, the mixer. So far, the flow and heat transfer processes and the ice formation and accretion cannot be calculated with sufficient accuracy. Therefore, the aim of this project is to develop a method for simulating the physical processes in the mixer.

MMS-DFG 2 - Flight Model Development of the Digital Fluxgate Magnetometer for NASA's MMS Mission

The ASAP 7 MMS-DFG 2 project covered the assembly, calibration and integration of a total of four Flight Models and one Spare Model. Calibration showed that the flight models fully met all performance requirements. The intrinsic noise of the magnetometer at 1 Hz is 5 pT/sqrt(Hz) and thus a factor of two lower than required for the MMS mission.

MOTIVE – Modeling, Optimizing, and technical integration of Vacuum-Glazing-Elements

This project addressed the development of construction details for the implementation of vacuum glazing panels in new windows. In this project such constructions (form of frame, thermal bridges, structural aspects, mounting of glass) were explored via empirical experiments and via simulation. As an outcome, a mock-up was constructed, and the findings were documented in a comprehensive document.

MUFUWU Stadtbaum - Development, evaluation of multifunctional urban tree habitat in existing streets. Root zone, retention, microclimate

Applied research and development of a construction concept for road construction that enables the establishment of large-crowned urban trees and is tailored to specific local requirements, such as metrological, geological, and climatic conditions. The results are taken as a basis for a standard construction concept for densely built urban areas.

MURREAL: Murtaler Reallabor - On the way to 100% renewable energy by 2040

MURREAL connects the actors of the industrial region Murtal with specialists in the field of high tech and materials with the raw material and energy sector, service providers and research and development. In this exploration for a real laboratory, synergies had been worked out and business models had been built up to consistently take the path towards 100% renewable energy and climate neutrality by 2040.

Maize Cob Board (MCB) - Light weight material from agricultural by-products

Maize cobs accrue as an agricultural by-product can be used for a core material of light weight panels with good material properties and insulation characteristics. The aim was to work out a concept for the production and optimisation of material properties.

Manage_GeoCity - Development of a method for the coordinated management of geothermal energy in urban areas

Based on the urban region Graz a method had been developed for the coordinated use and management of shallow geothermal energy for heating and cooling as well as seasonal heat storage in urban regions. Ground water flow, different geologic conditions, heating and cooling demand, heat input from solar collectors and industrial waste heat and the possibilities of seasonal heat storage in the subsurface were considered.

Internationale Energieagentur (IEA)

Mapping of IEA TCPs

The intention of this project was to visualize the current activities of the IEA Energy Technology Network and to identify possible gaps and overlaps. The mapping includes 185 ongoing tasks and annexes (Status September 2017).

Nachhaltig Wirtschaften

Market survey of energy storage technologies in Austria (MSSP2020)

Stationary battery storage devices for the maximisation of the private consumption in PV-systems, large heat storage for local and district heating systems, thermal activation of buildings and the area of innovative storage systems have been chosen for the first market survey within this project. The historical market diffusion of these technologies is surveyed empirically and documented up to 2020.
