INSIDE - Integrated Safety Critical DGNSS Service
The aim of INSIDE is the development of a first demonstrator of a GNSS based information system to support drivers of snow groomers. The snow groomers will be equipped with a GNSS receiver and an automotive computer as central processing device. The touch screen displays the actual position and the infrastructure and dangerous areas on a digital map as background. Furthermore, tracks of already prepared slopes will be highlighted to avoid multiple preparation work.
INTERSENSE
From land cover to land use – integrating remote sensing and human location patterns in urban areas
IQ - focal point on information and networking in the field of energy efficient districts
Energy aspects on land use planning were worked up on the basis of research and demonstration projects in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. The target groups from administration, politics, architecture as well as developers and future dwellers were addressed with custom-made events.
IRONER - Potential for innovative and sustainable recycling of steel
Within the framework of the IRONER project, open questions were identified and the necessary innovations for increased steel recycling were developed. In addition to a material flow analysis, stakeholder interviews and ecological and economic considerations, the influences of increased steel recycling on metallurgical processes and material properties of steel products were examined.
ISGAN Annex 7: Smart Grid Transitions – on Institutional Change
The International Smart Grid Action Network (ISGAN) aims at fostering the global implementation of Smart Grids. Annex 7 – Smart Grid Transitions deals with the related challenges regarding institutional change and socio-technical transition of the electricity systems.
ISS-SLEEP-KIT - Sleeping Bag for the International Space Station
The aim was to investigate the feasibility of designing and testing a sleeping bag for ISS. The methodology used included the fabrication of a prototype from material used on ISS such as Nomex-based textiles. The development of the sleeping bag involved a total of three design iterations based on feedback from European astronauts.
IWS - Maintenance tool with algorithm feel
Bundling existing operational data reduces the cost of maintaining production equipment. A new, self-learning maintenance tool greatly boosts productivity.
Ice Grid - Investigation of Ice Formation on Protection Grids in Aircraft Air-Conditioning Systems
The IceGrid project examined protection grids in the air conditioning systems of passenger aircraft and at the interface to mobile climate modules on the ground for icing and de-icing. The methods used included both experimental testing in the icing wind tunnel and numerical simulations.
Ice-storage NEW - New economical ice storage concept for optimized heat storage using heat pumps and peak use of wind power
Development of a technically and economically optimized new ice-storage concept as a thermal wind power peak storage and to improve the performance of heat pumps as a contribution for peak smoothing of the electrical load profile.
IceDrip - Aircraft Anti-icing and De-icing through Assemblies of Conducting Varnish and Functional Coatings
In the project IceDrip the rather promising concept of a discontinuous, electro-thermal de-icer is being investigated. The main aim of the present project is to significantly increase the already existing energetic advantages of the discontinuous de-icer by means of surface-active coatings, in order to achieve a performance range which would make the system suitable for general aviation aircraft, as well as smaller aircraft, which are equipped as large aircraft.
Improvement of resource efficient use of wood
Modelling of wood processing in order to demonstrate the developments' impacts on performance
InSight-MPS
Modelling of dynamic penetration in granular soils under space conditions
Increase of in-house consumption by building clusters and active storages (Eigenlast Cluster)
The project involved the evaluation of the significance of new approaches for the increase of in-house consumption of solar energy (electric energy and heat) of buildings in Großschönau, which are already equipped for such measurements. The existing municipal buildings, commercial buildings and households are aggregated to form virtual building clusters. Subsequently, the clusters were analyzed according to their in-house consumption with and without the usage of batteries and H2 storages. The economic analysis of this concept derives from a regional implementation plan for further industrial research.
Indicators for urban areas – for construction, operation and mobility in climate-friendly areas
Development and coordination of indicators for energy and ecological evaluations of urban areas based on the Swiss 2000-Watt certification system. The results will be used for the development of a quality assurance system for urban areas similar to the klimaaktiv declaration for buildings and the e5 certification for communities.
Indicators of social sustainability for energy regions of the future (SONAH)
Set of social sustainability indicators, oriented at practice needs, and concept for their use in energy strategy processes, regional energy concepts, planning and operation of plants generating renewable energy
Information systems for ecological industry clusters - Case study industrial region Mödling (Lower Austria)
Development of a comprehensive, transparent and user-friendly concept of enhanced interlinkage of material and energy flows through increased information exchange and shows the resulting pollution reducing in conjunction with economic benefits for the companies.
InfraBase
Towards a baselayer generation service for infrastructure assessment enabling industry 4.0 operations
InfraGEO - Earth Observation Mission Database
The aim of this activity is to develop a standard solution for a generic, comprehensive, central, long-term mission archive for Earth Observation missions.
Inline Food Analyser - Leading innovation for the food industry
Until now, samples used during traditional lab testing procedures in the food processing industry were destroyed in the process. A domestic innovation has changed this, while improving food safety and product quality at the same time.
