IEA-SHC Task 64: Solar Process Heat
The IEA SHC Task 64/IV promotes the integration of solar thermal energy into industrial heating systems through standardised concepts, simulation tools and market strategies. The focus was on the development of modular integration solutions, the combination with heat pumps and the evaluation of simulation methods. The ‘Guideline to Market’ offers strategies for market launch. The results support companies and politicians in establishing SHIP as an efficient and scalable technology.
IEA-SHC Task 65: Solar Cooling for the Sunbelt Regions
IEA SHC Task 65 focuses on cost-efficient, safe, and reliable solar cooling systems optimized for hot climates. This requires cost reductions, system simplifications, life-cycle cost-benefit assessments and supportive policies. Austria plays a key role in Task 65, particularly in the assessment of technologies (Subtask C). Through scientific analyses, pilot projects, and workshops, market barriers are to be overcome, and solar cooling is to be established as a viable solution.
IMAC PRO - Industrialized Manufacturing of CFRP Profiles
The technological objective of IMac-Pro is the development of a complete integrated process chain for the cost effective serial production of optimised CFRP stiffener profiles (e.g. frames, stringer, struts, floor beams, drive shafts,…) for all kinds of aircrafts (passenger planes, helicopters, fighters) based on textile technologies in combination with advanced injection and curing technologies.
IMPACT - Phase 0+A
Integrated Mission Platform for Austrian CubeSat Technology - Phase 0+A
IMUVar - GRAVIS - Terrestrial Moving-Base Gravimetry Using a GNSS/SINS Platform
The GNSS/SINS combination may be adapted for terrestrial use where the platform will be mounted on a car. The gravity measurement by a moving car is a possible alternative to airborne and terrestrial gravimetry. This method can especially be applied for the densification of gravity measurements in complicated regions with sparse gravity distribution. Within the project GRAVIS a demonstrator for determining the Earths gravity field by using a car will be built.
IMUVar - VarIoNav - Analysis of Various Integration Methods of GNSS and Inertial Measurement Systems with Respect to Different Scenarios of Georeferencing
The main objective of the project VarIoNav is a scientifically based and comprehensive investigation of the integration of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and inertial measurement systems (IMS).
INDALMIM - Aluminium: Injection molding for industry
Aluminium components can now be industrially manufactured by means of metal injection molding. The new technology requires less material and energy.
INDIUM - Storage Tests of Indium Ion Emitters
This project aims at investigating whether the purging storage method is at least comparable to the previous spring cap method.
INFINITE: INnovative FINancing models for sustaInable urban energy sysTEms
The goal of the INFINITE-project is to lay the foundations for a more wide-spread implementation of urban energy supply systems across buildings, using renewable energy sources produced in local supply units. At the same time the projects supports to reduce the demand for fossil fuels and higher-level energy infrastructure.
INN'FIT4UM - Innsbruck "Fit4UrbanMission" - climate neutral Innsbruck 2030
Cities are the place where decarbonization strategies for energy, transport and buildings intersect. A few years ago, the municipality of Innsbruck set up a Smart City Group consisting of staff from the municipality, IIG, IKB and IVB to address this challenge. The goal of INN'F4UM is to develop a step-by-step plan to achieve climate neutrality for the city by 2030, building on an up-to-date representation of energy and resource flows together with the University of Innsbruck.
INNERGY - Real laboratory in the central Inn-valley for climate-neutral semi-urban areas
Sustainable energy supply solutions for existing quarters and industry had been surveyed holistically and cross-sectorally in a small-structured area, consequently pilot projects had been elaborated with the aim to build up a climate-neutral region.
INReS - Integration of sustainable stormwater management tools into planning execution and management software (BIM)
Exploration to prepare and evaluate the applicability of an interactive web application to recommend appropriate stormwater management measures for existing and new buildings that allows for (1) BIM compatibility for object-based implementation and (2) simplified application in the form of the stormwater toolbox.
INSIDE - Integrated Safety Critical DGNSS Service
The aim of INSIDE is the development of a first demonstrator of a GNSS based information system to support drivers of snow groomers. The snow groomers will be equipped with a GNSS receiver and an automotive computer as central processing device. The touch screen displays the actual position and the infrastructure and dangerous areas on a digital map as background. Furthermore, tracks of already prepared slopes will be highlighted to avoid multiple preparation work.
INTERSENSE
From land cover to land use – integrating remote sensing and human location patterns in urban areas
IQ - focal point on information and networking in the field of energy efficient districts
Energy aspects on land use planning were worked up on the basis of research and demonstration projects in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. The target groups from administration, politics, architecture as well as developers and future dwellers were addressed with custom-made events.
IRONER - Potential for innovative and sustainable recycling of steel
Within the framework of the IRONER project, open questions were identified and the necessary innovations for increased steel recycling were developed. In addition to a material flow analysis, stakeholder interviews and ecological and economic considerations, the influences of increased steel recycling on metallurgical processes and material properties of steel products were examined.
ISGAN Annex 7: Smart Grid Transitions – on Institutional Change
The International Smart Grid Action Network (ISGAN) aims at fostering the global implementation of Smart Grids. Annex 7 – Smart Grid Transitions deals with the related challenges regarding institutional change and socio-technical transition of the electricity systems.
ISS-SLEEP-KIT - Sleeping Bag for the International Space Station
The aim was to investigate the feasibility of designing and testing a sleeping bag for ISS. The methodology used included the fabrication of a prototype from material used on ISS such as Nomex-based textiles. The development of the sleeping bag involved a total of three design iterations based on feedback from European astronauts.
IWS - Maintenance tool with algorithm feel
Bundling existing operational data reduces the cost of maintaining production equipment. A new, self-learning maintenance tool greatly boosts productivity.
