MIXVAL - Mixer Simulation and Validation

In passenger aircraft, the mixing and distribution of humid airflow from the cabin and engines into the cockpit and passenger cabin, as well as electronic components, takes place at a central location of the air conditioning system, the mixer. So far, the flow and heat transfer processes and the ice formation and accretion cannot be calculated with sufficient accuracy. Therefore, the aim of this project is to develop a method for simulating the physical processes in the mixer.

MMS-DFG 2 - Flight Model Development of the Digital Fluxgate Magnetometer for NASA's MMS Mission

The ASAP 7 MMS-DFG 2 project covered the assembly, calibration and integration of a total of four Flight Models and one Spare Model. Calibration showed that the flight models fully met all performance requirements. The intrinsic noise of the magnetometer at 1 Hz is 5 pT/sqrt(Hz) and thus a factor of two lower than required for the MMS mission.

MOTIVE – Modeling, Optimizing, and technical integration of Vacuum-Glazing-Elements

This project addressed the development of construction details for the implementation of vacuum glazing panels in new windows. In this project such constructions (form of frame, thermal bridges, structural aspects, mounting of glass) were explored via empirical experiments and via simulation. As an outcome, a mock-up was constructed, and the findings were documented in a comprehensive document.

MUSIG - Multi-sensor Information Generation to Support Crisis Management and Prevention

The FFG KIRAS project MUSIG focuses on the automated, AI-based derivation and fusion of movement information from geo-social media, mobile phone data and in-situ cameras. This fused movement information is then enriched with context information (semantic topics and sentiments from geo-social media, movement speeds and crowd densities from in-situ cameras) and tested in real scenarios for their added value in crisis management and its prevention.
