TecTREND

TecTREND is a collaborative analysis tool, which supports ministries and administrative bodies of national security (Ministry of Defence, Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Chancellery) in the recognition and evaluation of technological change relevant to security and defence. An understanding of the relevant technological developments is of importance to law enforcement and armed units in two respects: first, such an understanding lays the basis of deployment concepts, training and gear and, secondly, it improves the understanding how new technologies influence adversaries’ options (for example state actors or non-state violent groups) and how this, in turn, impacts on law enforcement and armed units.

The TeleCareHub project develops the Telecare app to support home care for people with dementia by early need detection and daily assistance. It addresses challenges such as lack of awareness and uncertainty about digital offerings and aims to achieve certification for a "prescription app" to integrate digital health solutions. A multi-center study in Austria evaluates the impact of the technology on the quality of life and relief for caregivers.

The town of Ternitz has been a Climate Alliance municipality since 1991, a member of the KEM Schwarzatal region since 2010/2011, an e5 municipality (with 4e) since 2011, and was awarded the title "Energie.Vorbild.Gemeinde" in June 2023 within the LEADER region NÖ-Süd. Evaluation and testing of different energy distribution approaches in a neighbourhood using direct lines, storage or new legal options through the ElWG (Electricity Industry Act). The project builds on the existing direct line system in Thannhausen and will test different use cases for the (climate-neutral) supply of neighbourhoods there.

The project pursues the overall strategic objective "solution of the problem-inducing heat bridge". For this purpose, the thermal bridging losses should be reduced by the factor of 15 in contrast to the state of the art. The significant increase in efficiency should rely on existing system solutions, but incorporating a new holistic view in terms of construction, geometry and materials.

The Green Parking Space – Utilization of urban parking areas for production of biomass

Many traffic areas in urban environments are actually used as such only a small fraction of the time. Subject of this project was to investigate the possibility of using those areas by additional integration of photobioreactors for the production of biomass, integrating such systems to the maximum extent into the urban substance and energy cycles.
