ClimateConcrete Bregenz - Model development of transferable NEB quality processes for climate-resilient urban districts in Bregenz

KlimaKonkret Bregenz is not a traditional planning project; rather, it develops a clear framework for quality and decision-making in future urban development. Its aim is to bring together topics such as climate resilience, mobility, building culture, and social issues in a way that enables policymakers and administrators to make well-informed, sustainable long-term decisions. This results in concrete tools, such as binding quality criteria in accordance with NEBKritQ and—where appropriate—a design guideline derived from these criteria for future projects.

Climbing plant NAVI - Webapplication for the reliable selection of climbing plants

The comprehensive web application "Climbing Plants NAVI" takes important parameters such as the type of greening, weight classes, toxicity, ecological value, the possibility of culinary use, into account and thereby supports the selection of suitable climbing plants for greening projects. The climbing plants NAVI is not only intended for municipal representatives, planners and other professionals, but is also directed at private individuals.

CoSpatial Heat - Joint spatial coordination of heat supply in Gleisdorf

CoSpatial Heat is developing an integrated, geodata-based heating and gas supply planning concept for the Gleisdorf region. By jointly considering space heating, process heat, and gas infrastructure, future supply, expansion, and decommissioning areas are identified. The systemic integration of GIS analyses, consumption data, energy audits, and stakeholder knowledge generates robust decision-making foundations for municipalities, industry, and network operators.

Commercial Quarter Erdberger Mais (EBM) - Transformation of a Business Development Area into a Climate-Resilient Commercial Quarter

The project addresses the urgent need to further develop existing industrial areas in a climate-resilient, resource-efficient, and future-oriented way. The approximately 7.6-hectare commercially used site in Vienna is to be developed as an industrial-commercial area in line with the Wien-Plan (Urban Development Plan 2035).

Construction of a local biogas grid in Güssing - Technical and economical concept for the implementation

Decentralized energy supply systems are a very important contribution for the use of regional potentials as these technical solutions are always fitted to specific conditions. Local biogas grids should complement already existing technologies and be analyzed accordingly.

Counterintuitive Building Types - Innovation Potentials for Sustainable Transformation of Commercial and Retail Locations

Selected commercial retail and properties provide existing resources for this project’s case studies that will convert and further develop them towards more positive energy, use, and life cycle balances. The currently underperforming properties will be transformed into more active and attractive places of higher experiential density and environmental relevance through multiplication of space and uses in the interior and exterior areas, demonstrating opportunities for more sustainable development of these understudied building typologies.

CreeS - Chromium-free Slag

The project develops an innovative technological approach to producing chromium-free stainless steel slags (EDS) for sustainable cement and steel industries. By removing heavy metals and recycling material streams, it enables resource-efficient utilization, reducing CO₂ emissions, conserving natural resources, and promoting the circular economy. The comprehensive process delivers ecological and economic benefits, applicable to various slag types.

DAKTRis - Dynamic operational behaviour of absorption chillers in Trigeneration Systems

In the present project an absorption chiller will be adapted to meet the specific requirements necessary to integrate it with the CHP unit. By means of hardware-in-the-loop measurements and dynamic system simulations, different system configurations and control strategies will be analysed under dynamic boundary conditions, optimized and evaluated.

open4aviation

DARVIS - Data Fusion of K/X Band Radar with Visual Sensors for Airborne Platforms

Various sensor technologies in aviation have so far insufficiently combined the respective complementary properties. The optimal fusion as well as the respective characteristics of the sensors are to be optimally used in the future. The different methods for calibration and synchronization will be investigated and optimized. The results will then be incorporated into a sensor technology model for collision avoidance in aviation.
