RE-FORM earth - Earth Building for Building Sector Transformation

In order to promote the use of earth, the RE-FORM earth project is creating a planning basis for the construction of structures and buildings containing earth. In order to counter uncertainties regarding the health effects of earth building materials, a comprehensive program is being carried out to investigate radiation exposure and potential pollutants in earth. By erecting a temperature-controlled rammed earth wall in a test room with subsequent measurements, the aim is to determine the extent to which the material can contribute to healthy indoor air due to its moisture-regulating properties and help to balance out energy peaks.

RETRAIN - Training Network Renewable and Energy Efficiency Technologies in Buildings

The project aim on one hand is to evaluate and adapt current trainings in the field of biomass, solar thermal energy, photovoltaic, heat pumps and ventilation and on the other hand to define new potential trainings in case of further demand. This shall be a fundamental basis to prevent the threat of the absence of professionals and to increase the quality of already converted projects.

RST Reloaded - Flexibilisation of the urban power supply system by adapting the existing ripple control system

"RST reloaded" utilises existing ripple control technology (RST) to activate flexible loads in a targeted manner to benefit the grid and thus create capacities for more renewable energy in urban electricity grids. The aim is to analyse technical potential and user acceptance in equal measure and validate them in an implementation. The approach is scalable, legally compliant and transferable to other municipal utilities.

Rankweil 2040 - Development of a climate neutrality roadmap for the town of Rankweil

The town of Rankweil is already very active in environmental and climate protection. The development of the Climate Neutrality Plan aims to further strengthen this commitment and develop concrete measures to achieve climate neutrality in Rankweil.

RaumCoop 2.0 - Space Cooperative, a systematic operational model for activating unused or underutilized spaces.

The RaumCoop organizes the sharing of spaces, mobilizes underutilized spaces for non-residential purposes in the ground floor area, and makes them available for temporary use at affordable conditions. The goal of the project is to establish this non-profit organization.

ReAssuRe – risk management for re-use of construction components and building technology by non-destructive on-site testing procedures

Risk assessment and insurability is essential for the re-use of functional components in buildings. In the best case, properties of components can be examined before they are removed from the donor building. ReAssuRe identifies suitable on-site testing procedures and establishes a network for the quality assurance of re-use components.

ReKEP

ReKEP relies on reusable transport containers instead of (disposable) cardboard packaging. These should be affordable, effective and flexible to use in the CEP sector (courier, express, parcel). The logistics processes involved are examined and adjustments are proposed to achieve economic, ecological and social sustainability.

ReSpace – Reclaiming Spaces

ReSpace is developing an AI-based model for identifying, categorizing, and activating sealed areas. Existing data sources (aerial and satellite images, mobile network data, land registry entries) are integrated and enhanced with dynamic analysis to derive evidence-based recommendations for action.

ReTarget - Re-manufacturing and re-purposing of high-quality sputter materials

The project objective is to reduce the energy input in the production of sputtering targets by at least 20 % by direct re-manufacturing of used, precious metal targets. In addition, the utilization rate will be increased from an average of 20-30 % to 70-80 % through a direct re-purpose approach, as well as by optimizing the sputtering process. This will allow a significant reduction of the footprint of the sputtering process.

Repa & Service Mobil

Development/preparation of a mobile repair and service-point and pilot-implementation at large company sites or centres with high customer-frequency. Supporting of sustainable product-services - especially repair-services - in connection with efficient logistical and organisational processes in relation to product-service-systems; reduction of market-barriers and sensitisation of the general public for sustainable consumption.

ResourceRevival - District development from industry site to resource neutrality in Möllersdorf

The reuse of building elements is a much-discussed topic, but a truly circular district encompasses much more. Through interdisciplinary cooperation as part of a co-creative concept development at the Werk Möllersdorf, previously separately considered aspects of the circular economy are combined, symbioses between demand and availability of materials, energy, rainwater and grey water are identified and their circularity is maximized.

Revolutionary, cost efficient bitumen rooftop membrane with integrated photovoltaic modules

The project goal is to adapt the photovoltaic (PV) modules of crystalsol and an appropriately designed production process in order to integrate the flexible photoactive layer cost-effectively into waterproof roof membranes. At the end of the project the first membranes with integrated PV-layers will be produced. The success of this project would lead to enormous cost cutting and technological development advantages in the BIPV technology.

SAGE - scalable multi-agent architectures for facility management and energy efficiency

The SAGE project is developing scalable multi-agent architectures that enable buildings to recognize operational anomalies autonomously and react dynamically to environmental changes. The integration of multi-agent architectures in combination with Large Language Models (LLMs) and the development of a human-in-the-loop approach will optimize the collaboration between humans and machines. These solutions should significantly reduce the energy consumption of buildings and increase user-friendliness.
